An unforgettable evening of connection, celebration, and culinary artistry, 4OUR Women: Community Conversation & Celebration Dinner, served as the kickoff to our transformative two day program celebrating Black womanhood.

This unique event offered a space for connection, reflection, and celebration, with an inspiring program designed to uplift and honor Black women. The evening featured an enriching community conversation hosted by the dynamic Brandi Keeler, joined by luminaries Mama Njia Kai and Brittany Lewis, LMSW, as they shared how their Black womanhood has shaped their careers, lives, and approaches to leadership. Adding to the experience was a special spoken word performance by Galaxy, whose artistry captures the beauty and strength of Black womanhood. Throughout the event, we enjoyed the vibrant sounds of DJ Cash Money, who will be spinning music to set the perfect atmosphere for celebration and connection.

Dinner crafted by Chef Honey of Got Bee’s Buzzing Catering, included carefully curated courses inspired by the music of the artists featured in Saturday’s Grand Concert.

Inspired by Nina Simone's song Four Women, this immersive evening intertwines conversation, art, and flavors for a one-of-a-kind celebration of culture, resilience, and joy.

A night of music, storytelling, and celebration 4OUR Women: The Grand Concert, was a musical showcase honoring the complexity and humanity of Black women. This powerful showcase featured four dynamic Detroit-based artists--Charity, Thornetta Davis, Galaxy, and JaciCaprice—who each debuted new works inspired by their journeys through Black womanhood.

Meet the Artists
  • Charity: A Detroit-based singer and songwriter, Charity weaves R&B, Neo-Soul, Folk, and Gospel into powerful performances. Her music reflects her roots as a preacher’s daughter and her poetic influences, including Nikki Giovanni and Ntozake Shange. Her latest single, "Cruel," captivates audiences with a sound that embodies the essence of Motown.
  • Thornetta Davis: Crowned "Detroit’s Queen of the Blues," Thornetta is an internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter who has shared the stage with legends like B.B. King and Ray Charles. A 2023 Blues Music Award for best Female Soul/Blues Artist and Detroit Blues Society Living Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient, she brings a soul-stirring presence and a voice that commands attention.
  • Galaxy: A Detroit-born poet, educator, and storyteller, Galaxy has captivated audiences nationwide with her thought-provoking performances. Her work invites reflection, connection, and a renewed appreciation for the power of words.
  • JaciCaprice: A visionary producer and vocalist, JaciCaprice is a true Renaissance woman. Her music—compared to legends like Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott—blends Hip-Hop and Neo-Soul with a global perspective, reflecting her collaborations across continents.

The Grand Concert was more than a performance—a movement. Through music and theatrical production, this event promoted self-compassion and mental wellness, challenging the "Strong Black Woman" narrative and creating a space for healing and celebration. Designed for Black women and those who love and support them, the concert offered an experience that uplifts, inspires, and transforms.
